BEVERLY HILLS, April 02, (THEWILL) – The Lagos state police command has released names and photographs of its oficers involved in the killing of Kolade Johnson, a football fan.
THEWILL recalls that a stray bullet hit the deceased during a raid by the anti-cultism unit of the command at Onipetesi, Lagos-Abeokuta road on Sunday which sparked a nationwide outrage, with the police authorities promising Nigerians that the killers would be brought to book.
The police, in a tweet on Tuesday unveiled the identities of the officers arrested in connection with the incident.
“The men suspected to have carried out the shooting of Kolade Johnson have been apprehended and subjected to internal disciplinary procedures. The CP has revealed their names as (1) Insp Ogunyemi Olalekan and (2) Sgt Godwin Orji attached to Anti Cultism Squad,” the police said in a tweet.
Meanwhile, Zubairu Muazu, the Lagos state commissioner of police, on Tuesday, led a condolence visit to the family of the deceased at their residence and condemned the act informing them that the men suspected to have carried out the shooting have been apprehended and subjected to internal disciplinary procedures.
The Presidency, in a statement via Twitter, has also expressed its deep sadness over the killing of Kolade revealing that the police has assured that the team suspected of involvement in the shooting had been arrested and were undergoing disciplinary procedure.
“Deepest condolences to the family and friends of Kolade Johnson, a victim of the March 31 fatal shooting in Lagos. @PoliceNG have assured that the Team suspected of involvement in the shooting have been apprehended & are undergoing disciplinary procedure. Updates will be provided,” the tweet read.
