April 23, (THEWILL) — A Khvicha Kvaratskhelia brace propelled Paris Saint-Germain to a 3-0 victory over Nantes at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday, stretching their lead at the summit of Ligue 1 to four points over second-placed Lens.
The opener arrived in the 13th minute via the penalty spot after VAR confirmed that Ali Youssif had handled inside the area while challenging Marquinhos for a header. Kvaratskhelia stepped up and dispatched the kick with calm authority to give Luis Enrique’s side the initiative.
PSG quickly doubled their advantage through a sweeping counter-attack. Achraf Hakimi slipped Desire Doue in behind the Nantes backline, and the Frenchman took a composed touch before driving the ball into the top-left corner.
Five minutes after the interval, Kvaratskhelia put the result beyond doubt. Taking Ousmane Dembele’s pass on the edge of the area, the Georgian drifted past two defenders before curling the ball into the net to make it three.
Nantes goalkeeper Anthony Lopes kept the scoreline respectable in the closing stages, turning away Kvaratskhelia’s header from a corner and denying Fabian Ruiz with the post also coming to Nantes’ aid, though PSG had long since wrapped up the points.
