February 10, (THEWILL) — Lagos is emerging not just as Nigeria’s economic powerhouse, but as a vibrant destination for business and international visitors, following the launch of a landmark report on the Lagos International Financial Centre (LIFC).
The initiative, backed by the UK Government, TheCityUK, Lagos State Government, and EnterpriseNGR, sets out a roadmap to transform the city into West Africa’s hub for global investment, innovation, and sustainable growth.
The LIFC is expected to attract international investors, conferences, and business travellers, showcasing Lagos as a city where economic opportunity meets cosmopolitan flair.
By building a modern financial ecosystem, the initiative will drive growth in FinTech, green finance, and capital markets, while creating high-value jobs, making Lagos a magnet for both talent and tourism in the business sector.
British Deputy High Commissioner, Jonny Baxter, highlighted the global significance of the project: “Lagos’s strengths combined with UK expertise can unlock investment, deepen capital markets, and position the city as a world-class destination for business tourism and international collaboration.”
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, emphasised that the city’s world-class infrastructure, modern business environment, and rich cultural vibrancy make it ideal for international visitors: “The LIFC will not only enhance trading and investment but also attract global professionals who will experience Lagos’s dynamic culture, hospitality, and urban lifestyle.”
With international conferences, business events, and investment summits expected to follow, Lagos is poised to redefine business tourism in Africa, blending economic growth with visitor experiences, cultural exploration, and the city’s unmistakable energy.
