Leeds Dismiss Gracia, Bring In Allardyce As New Manager To Avoid Relegation

May 03, (THEWILL) – Leeds United have announced that Sam Allardyce will take over as the new manager, replacing Javi Gracia, who has been dismissed with immediate effect.

Gracia had only managed to win three of his 12 games in charge at Elland Road, leaving the team just above the English Premier League relegation zone on goal difference. Allardyce, known for his expertise in relegation battles, will be assisted by Karl Robinson and will oversee the remaining four games of the season.

“We thank Javi and his team for their efforts under difficult circumstances,” the club said in a statement. “The remaining four games of the season will be overseen by experienced head coach, Sam Allardyce.”

Allardyce’s first game in charge will be an away trip to Manchester City, with Leeds currently without a win in their last five games. The team’s fate is in their hands, but they face a difficult run-in with matches against high-flying Newcastle and fellow strugglers, West Ham.

Leeds fans will hope that Allardyce’s experience and reputation for securing teams’ survival in the EPL will be enough to keep the team from falling into the relegation zone and completely dropping off the top flight into the Championship.
