January 15, (THEWILL) – Leicester City have completed the signing of French defender Woyo Coulibaly from Italian side Parma in a transfer worth approximately £3 million.
The transfer was finalised on Wednesday, marking the first recruitment under recently appointed manager Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The 25-year-old full-back brings considerable experience to the King Power Stadium, having made 88 appearances for Parma during his tenure with the Italian club.
His time there coincided with their successful promotion campaign back to Serie A.
Upon joining Leicester, Coulibaly said: “It is an honour to be here. I feel very good, very welcomed and the training ground is very impressive.
There have been a lot of impressive players at the club. It is going to be a challenge in the Premier League but one that I am very much looking forward to.”
The defender, who began his professional career at French club Le Havre, arrives at a critical moment for Leicester.
The former EPL champions returned to the top division in April 2024 but currently find themselves in a challenging position, sitting 19th in the League table.
Van Nistelrooy, who took charge of the club in November, will look to integrate Coulibaly into his defensive plans immediately.
The Foxes are presently two points away from top-flight safety, making every match crucial in their bid for survival.
Leicester continue their campaign with a home fixture against Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening, though their latest acquisition will require standard registration procedures before potential involvement in first-team activities.
