November 10, (THEWILL) — Robert Lewandowski scored three goals to guide Barcelona to a 4-2 victory over Celta Vigo on Sunday, reducing the gap behind LaLiga leaders Real Madrid to just three points.
The Polish striker converted an early penalty before adding two further finishes to claim the match ball and maintain his side’s early pursuit of the title.
Barcelona opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Lewandowski dispatched a spot-kick awarded after a VAR review penalised Marcos Alonso for handball.
Celta responded almost immediately through Sergio Carreira, who rounded goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny to equalise.
Lewandowski restored the advantage before half-time with a close-range finish from a Marcus Rashford cross, but Borja Iglesias levelled again with a powerful strike.
Lamine Yamal then put the hosts 3-2 ahead before the interval, beating Ionut Radu at the near post.
The second period saw Barcelona control possession, and Lewandowski completed his treble with 17 minutes remaining, converting another Rashford delivery.
Yamal struck the post late on after going through on goal, whilst Rashford had earlier hit the woodwork in the first half.
Barcelona finished with 10 men after Frenkie de Jong received a second yellow card four minutes into stoppage time for a foul on Iago Aspas.
