August 29, (THEWILL) — The Rivers State Police Command has announced a restriction of movement across the state from 12 midnight to 6pm on Saturday, August 30, 2025, as part of security measures for the conduct of the local government elections.

In a statement on Thursday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said the restriction was aimed at ensuring a peaceful, free, and fair electoral process.

She urged residents to comply with the directive, cooperate with security operatives, and refrain from acts capable of disrupting the elections.

According to her, only those on essential duties would be exempted from the restrictions, while security agencies have been fully mobilised to guarantee safety on land and waterways.

“The Rivers State Police Command is committed to maintaining law and order before, during, and after the elections.

“We therefore appeal to the good people of the state to cooperate with us to ensure a smooth, peaceful, and hitch-free exercise,” Iringe-Koko said.
