Mr Diaz will be transported by helicopter and reunited with his family soon, who are already celebrating his release in their hometown of La Guajira.

The Episcopal Conference of Colombia shared an image on social media of Mr Diaz after his release, thanking God and the humanitarian commission for securing his freedom after the ordeal, which began on 28 October when he and his wife were stopped by armed motorcyclists and kidnapped.
