November 10, (THEWILL) – Nigerian forward, Ademola Lookman, has been named Atalanta’s October Player of the Month.
Lookman clinched the prize ahead of goalkeeper, Marco Sportiello and forward, Luis Muriel. Muriel made a strong showing in October, contributing two assists, both of which Lookman converted to increase his goal tally and benefit the club’s progression.
Sportiello, a backup goalkeeper, who excelled between the posts after Musso, the Nerazzurri’s first-choice keeper, was injured, also earned his nomination for the honour. However, it comes as little surprise that Lookman was chosen as Atalanta’s best player for the month under consideration rather than Muriel and Sportiello.
Since joining Atalanta from RB Leipzig in August, Lookman has been phenomenal, increasingly seeming like the best purchase of the summer. The 25-year-old, a former star for Leicester City, had his most productive month in October, scoring four goals in five games.
Beyond his October stats, Lookman has already made a strong start to November by scoring the lone goal in Atalanta’s 2-1 loss to Victor Osimhen’s Napoli at home.
