March 20, (THEWILL) — The national leadership of Nigeria’s opposition political party, the Labour Party (LP), has bluntly declared that the party, which still commands a large followership across Nigeria and in the diaspora, after surviving leadership tussles at all levels, is no longer a forum and operational platform for selfish, fraudulent, reckless and undesirable individuals and pressure groups.
In other words, the reformed Labour Party under the leadership of Senator Nenadi Esther Usman is no longer a place for fraudulent political merchants and grab-it-at-all-costs characters and money bags, who take undue advantage of the party’s towering popularity to win elections, only to jump out of the party when the going gets tough.
A press statement to this effect further explained that all those intending to cross over to the Labour Party from other political parties must be subjected to a credibility test, as the party is not interested in deceptive characters pretending to be lovers of the people.
LP, according to its new national leadership, is only interested in the overall well-being of the masses and will leave no stone unturned in effecting real positive change in all sectors and segments of Nigeria’s economy
The Labour Party, therefore, charged well-meaning Nigerians to go for E-registration of their membership with the party, describing LP as the genuine political vehicle that could make the masses across all the ethnic backgrounds breathe a sigh of relief.
Aligning himself with the position of the national leadership of LP, a chieftain and leader of the party in Imo state, Sir Basil Maduka, posited that members of the party across the country and Imo state, in particular, are happy and quite comfortable with the Senator Nenadi Usman-led National Leadership of the party.
According to Sir Basil Maduka, a lot of people were deceived and misinformed about the Labour Party, a situation that led to a mass exodus.
The Imo LP leader charged stakeholders of the party who ran to other political parties to return to the party, as according to him, the party’s E-registration is ongoing, with party congresses a few days from now.
