BEVERLY HILLS, December 09, (THEWILL) – An accused, Kyari Bukar, of Ngomari ward of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, has been sentenced to a 10-year jail term for robbing his sister in-law.

Bukar, bagged the jail term, Monday, after he was found guilty by a Maiduguri High Court 11 for conspiracy and robbery.

He was subsequently sentenced under section 97 and 298 of the Borno State Penal Code Law.

The court also sentenced Bukar’s accomplice in crime, Hamisu Haruna, to six months imprisonment upon conviction.

The duo were accused of breaking into the house of one Hauwa Ngomari and carted away her properties while armed with dangerous weapons which included knives, cutlasses and sticks,

The convicted men, according to the prosecution papers, carted away necklaces, four handsets, gold earring and a DVD machine, all valued at N173, 000.

Bukar, in particular, is said to be a brother to the complainant’s husband and was also accused of attempting to rape one of the victims during the robbery incident.

While handing down judgement on the accused, the presiding judge, Justice Alkali Gana Wakil, described Bukar’s action as shameful and serious, saying “It is the highest ingratitude of Kyari and his partners in crime.”
