Many Feared Dead As Bomb Explodes In Maiduguri Garage

BEVERLY HILLS, October 12, (THEWILL) – An improvised explosive device on Wednesday morning exploded on-board a Golf 1 car with registration num JERE 349 XA, body S/No RTEAN 7179 taxi colour conveying five passengers (four females and a male driver) in Muna Garage along Maiduguri/Gamboru Ngala road in Borno state.

An eyewitness stated that many traders and travelers were feared killed. However, the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, disclosed on Twitter that “about eight (8) persons lost their lives, fifteen (15) injured persons were evacuated to Specialist and Teaching Hospitals, Maiduguri”.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, DSP Emmanuel Isuku, has it that, “the explosion occurred when the taxi was attempting to join the convoy of other vehicles heading to Gamboru town.

“The suicide bomber who is reasonably believed to be one of the female casualties, was picked along the road.”

Meanwhile, soldiers and the Police anti-bomb squad have taken over the scene of the incident.
