September 01, (THEWILL) –Â Retired boxer, Floyd Mayweather, is set to return to the ring in another scheduled exhibition match against Mikuru Asakura, on September 25, as a part of the RIZIN programme taking place in Japan
The 45-year-old former multi-division boxing champion previously competed in the Japanese-based promotion in 2018 and destroyed Tenshin Nasukawa in the first round and this will be his second appearance there.
After that, Mayweather took part in a lucrative eight-round exhibition match versus social media personality turned boxing fan Logan Paul as part of a Showtime pay-per-view bout, which turned out to be one of the biggest events of 2021.
Asakura, who has a 16-3 record in mixed martial arts with one no-contest, will be competing in his first boxing match against Mayweather, who is regarded as one of the most skilled fighters in the sport’s history.
Along with Mayweather’s exhibition match, Kyoji Horiguchi, a former Bellator bantamweight champion, will make a comeback to the promotion to take on Yuto “Kintaro” Hokamura. After losing consecutive fights in Bellator to Sergio Pettis and Patchy Mix, Horiguchi will try to win this time.
