SAN FRANCISCO, November 26, (THEWILL) – A group, Middle Belt Progressive Forum, has flayed Friday’s attack on the vehicle of the Aviation Minister, Ms. Stella Oduah, in Abuja, saying the police should “fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act.”
Condemning the attack in a statement issued in Jos, Plateau State capital, and signed by the National Coordinator, Mr Danladi Kumsha, the group said: “The attack on the Minister calls for serious concern, especially at this period that certain forces have continued to threaten that she must either resign or be sacked for her action or inaction in the controversial purchase of two bullet proof cars by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
“However, the recent fatal dimension of wanting the minister dead came to us as a big surprise. We thank God that the Honourable Minister was not in the car when the incident took place, otherwise the story would have been different by now. Life threatening issues like this must not be treated with kid gloves or politicised. It must not be swept under the carpet; hence we call for full blown investigation. “
The group said “in fact, the Police would have to explore all possible leads particularly whether there is a nexus between the on-going probe of the bullet proof cars purchase deal, the ‘unholy concession agreements in the aviation sector which Ms. Oduah’s administration in the Ministry is reviewing and some ethnic zealots who had called for the minister’s head.”
It also alleged that some powerful forces are after the Minister as it called the Nigerian state to protect her by giving her all the security she needs at this trying period .
