February 04, (THEWILL) — Massimiliano Allegri’s AC Milan closed the gap on Serie A leaders, Inter Milan, to five points following a 3-0 victory over Bologna at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. The Rossoneri continued their impressive away form with three well-taken goals in a convincing display.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek opened the scoring in the 20th minute after Christopher Nkunku had seen two close-range headers saved by Federico Ravaglia. Adrien Rabiot kept the ball alive and laid it back for Loftus-Cheek to slot home into an unguarded net. Goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who recently agreed a new contract with Milan, enjoyed a quiet evening, but produced one sharp save to deny Jens Odgaard. Substitute Niclas Fullkrug spurned a late chance to add a fourth goal, heading from a narrow angle straight at Ravaglia.
The victory keeps Milan firmly in the title race, sitting five points behind their city rivals with the momentum of another strong away performance behind them.
