BEVERLY HILLS, March 25, (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari has received the report of the Presidential Advisory Committee on the New Minimum wage.
President Buhari had in November 2018 received the report of the Tripartite Committee on the Review of National Minimum Wage at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The report was submitted by the committee’s chairman, Amal Pepple.
The committee which recommended N30,000 as the new national minimum wage also submitted a draft bill that will be sent to the National Assembly.
However the president on January 9, 2019 constituted the presidential panel, chaired by the Managing Director of the Financial Derivatives Company, Bismarck Rewane.
The report of the 24-man panel was presented at the council chambers of the State House, Abuja.
THEWILL recalls that the Senate recently approved N30,000 as the new national minimum wage subsequent to the submission of the report of the ad hoc committee set up to review the minimum wage headed by Senator Francis Alimikhena.
The House of Representatives had also earlier approved the new figure as the national minimum wage.
