Miyetti Allah Disowns Statement Asking Saraki To Resign

SAN FRANCISCO, August 23, (THEWILL) – The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has distanced itself from a statement asking Senate President Bukola Saraki to resign or be forcefully removed.

THEWILL recalls that Garus Gololo, Chairman of the association in Benue state, had said the senate president is working to undermine the presidency. He then asked Saraki to relinquish his position or be forced out.

But in a statement on Wednesday, Othman Ngelzarma, National Secretary of the association, said Gololo spoke in his personal capacity urging the public to disregard it.

“The attention of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria has been drawn to an interview granted by one Garus Gololo in Makurdi to Punch Newspaper titled ‘Resign or we will force you out’. Miyetti Allah to Saraki. This statement is unfortunate,” the statement read.

“I will categorically state that Garos Gololo spoke in his personal capacity and has no mandate to speak on behalf of the association. Miyetti Allah is a non partisan association with no interest in the political terrain and we couldn’t meddle into the affairs of political actors thereby compounding our already obvious challenges.

“I therefore urge all and sundry to disregard this statement. This statement is not from MACBAN and should be disregarded in its entirety.

“We take exception on this statement and Garos Gololo is entirely on his own and will be sanctioned accordingly. We cannot afford to add up to the many challenges we are confronted with.

“I’m therefore appealing to the general public to disregard this statement as it is coming from someone who doesn’t have the mandate of the association to speak on its behalf. Thank You and God bless you all.”

However, Gololo has taken a swipe at the National President and General Secretary of the group, Alhaji Muhammadu Kirowo and Ngelzarma, describing them as card-carrying members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a swift reaction, Gololo maintained that the reaction of the leaders of the association was unnecessary and ill motivated, insisting that he had the right to speak on the matter.

“Let me tell you that the reason the National President of MACBAN, Alhaji Muhammadu Kirowo and the General Secretary, Baba Ngelzarma, are attacking me over my statement on Saraki is the fact that they are PDP men and also card-carrying members of the main opposition,” he stated.

“Kirowo is not happy that I spoke against his party. All along, I have been from APP to ANPP to CPC and now to APC. So, APC is my party and I am a bona fide member of APC and nothing can change me.

“I have never seen where majority are being ruled by minority, it is not possible and that is why we put it to Saraki that way.

“Even if they disown me, I’m still a member of MACBAN because in the rule establishing Miyetti Allah, I was in MACBAN before the National President, even the General Secretary came and met me. So l am their senior in the constitution of MACBAN.”
