June 29, (THEWILL) – Salernitana have reignited their pursuit of talented Nigerian forward, Terem Moffi, who had previously caught the attention of the club’s scouts last year.
While Boulaye Dia was initially a priority for Salernitana, the club could only secure a loan deal for the Senegalese forward from Villarreal. Currently, Salernitana are exploring the potential partnership between Moffi and Dia, or alternatively seeking a replacement if Dia returns to Spain. Moffi had a remarkable season while playing for Lorient and later on loan for OGC Nice both in Ligue 1.
He scored an impressive 18 goals in the French top flight matches and an additional three goals in the Europa Conference League, with the Goal of the Season in the Conference League award as a recognition of his skills in front of goal. Notably, Moffi surpassed the goal tally of renowned football stars, Lionel Messi, Alexis Sanchez and Neymar in the recently concluded Ligue 1 season.
While there is a slim chance of Moffi leaving the French club due to Nice’s obligation to make his move permanent, Salernitana are closely monitoring the ongoing negotiations between Nice and Moffi. In the event of a breakdown in talks, Salernitana are considering alternative options. One possibility is striking a deal with Lorient, which may involve a cash-plus-player swap, potentially including Boulaye Dia.
Additionally, discussions are underway for a potential loan arrangement with an obligation to buy. It is worth mentioning that Moffi’s commitment to staying in France led him to reject offers from several Italian and English clubs during the January transfer window when he took the decision to move to Nice, where he has since been blossoming.
