BEVERLY HILLS, September 21, (THEWILL) – At least ten Boko Haram fighters Sunday surrendered to Nigerian troops barely 24 hours after 5 fighters from the terrorist sect surrendered in Konduga, a town located about 60 miles from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters in a tweet Monday said the troops surrendered in Kawuri, a village in Konduga, Borno State.
“Another Set of 10 Terrorists yesterday surrendered to Troops at #Kawuri,” the DHQ tweet said, adding that they have been taken into custody “for necessary security debriefing.”
Boko Haram’s leader, Abubakar Shekau is believed to have been killed last week in Konduga though the military is yet to formally declare so.
Over two thousand persons have been killed this year since the Boko Haram upped its campaign against the Nigerian state.
