May 08, (THEWILL) – Three members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives, on Thursday, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmakers from Katsina State, who announced their decision in separate letters read at plenary session, presided over on Thursday by Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, include Abdullahi Balarabe Dabai (Bakori/Danja); Aliyu Illiyasu (Safana/Butsari) and Salish Yusuf Majigiri (Mashi/Dushi).

Speaking through letters read at the plenary session witnessed by Katsina State Governor, Umar Dikko Radda, former Governor, Ibrahim Shehu Shema, and other top officials of the APC in Katsina State, Majigiri and the other two defectors, said their decision was based on irreconcilable differences bedevilling the PDP.

Dabai lamented that the PDP has been in crisis since 2022, and all efforts to address the lingering dispute have failed.

THEWILL reports that the House has continued to witness a gale of defections from the opposition political parties, especially the Labour Party and PDP, to the ruling APC. On Tuesday, six lawmakers from Delta State dumped the PDP for the APC, while two LP lawmakers from Enugu State crossed over to the PDP.
