October 07, (THEWILL) – Roma Manager, Jose Mourinho, has said he fully expects to work in Saudi Arabia at some point, after his fellow Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo blazed a trail by joining Al-Nassr. The veteran coach seemed confident about a Saudi move during an interview with Egyptian TV channel MBC, which is owned by Saudi Arabia’s MBC Group.
“I will go to Saudi Arabia in some free time, but I am convinced that I will work there. I don’t know when, but I am pretty sure of it,” Mourinho stated. However, the 60-year-old underlined his commitment to Roma for now, saying: “I want to give everything to the club until the last day.”
Last July, Mourinho joined the board of Saudi talent discovery organisation, Mahd Academy. “Doors are always open for me in Saudi Arabia. I want to feel the development there,” he explained.
Mourinho believes Ronaldo’s transfer has given a new perspective. “Cristiano was the first to go there and give a different perspective immediately,” he said. “Many players, not just in the last period of their careers, but also some players at the best years of their careers, are coming because the competition is real, not just at domestic League, but also the AFC Champions League is very interesting.”
The Portuguese coach has won domestic titles in Spain, England and Italy. He has also claimed two UEFA Champions League crowns. However, he faces pressure after Roma’s disappointing start this term.
