July 04, (THEWILL) — The immediate past governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, CON, KSC, has formally announced his move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring it as the new political platform for himself and his loyal supporters.
Addressing leaders of his grassroots-based political structure, the Rebuild Imo Movement (RIM), at his Civic Centre residence, Ihedioha declared, “My party, your party, our party is now ADC. That is the way to go. That is the party for all of us.”
The former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives urged RIM leaders to return to their wards, chapters, local government areas, and zones to consolidate and build ADC into a truly grassroots-driven, people-oriented political force.
“I urge you, as leaders of the Rebuild Imo Movement, to go home to your respective chapters, wards, LGAs, and zones, and take this message to the grassroots. We are a people-oriented movement. Our strength lies in the people. .
“We already have representation in all polling units across the 305 wards in the state, and our structures across the 27 LGAs and the three geopolitical zones are strong, viable, and functional. Just go home and energise our RIM structure, which has proven to be highly effective and formidable,” he said.
Ihedioha, who is fondly known as Omenkeahuruanya, a chieftaincy title earned for his landmark achievements during his time in the House of Representatives, expressed gratitude to his supporters for their loyalty and patience as they waited for a new political direction after his exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in April last year.
“I must thank all of you here today, and those who could not make it, for your steadfastness, your support, and your patience. I especially commend the Director General of our RIM structure for his administrative ingenuity. I also appreciate our state executive members, zonal, LGA, and ward leaders. You have all been amazing.
“Let me also appreciate our women, through our State Women Leader, Lady Ijeoma Dominic, for their resilience, and our youths for their diligence and dedication. Together, we shall triumph,” he said.
The declaration was met with jubilation as the RIM leaders left the meeting energised and optimistic, viewing the announcement as a defining moment that has firmly repositioned them within Nigeria’s political mainstream.
