
December 01, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Auto Journalists Association has announced December 11, 2024, as the date for its highly anticipated 2024 Auto Awards. The event, which is one of the most prominent gatherings in Nigeria’s automotive sector, will be held at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, and is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM.
The NAJA Auto Awards serves as a significant platform to recognize excellence and innovation in the country’s automotive industry. It celebrates outstanding achievements in vehicle design, technology, sustainability, and the contributions of industry leaders.
In a statement, NAJA emphasised the meticulous planning and collaboration involved in organizing the annual event, ensuring it remains a credible and prestigious occasion in Nigeria’s automotive calendar.
Theodore Opara, Chairman of the 2024 Auto Awards Committee, highlighted the event’s importance amid the ongoing transformation in the automotive industry.
He pointed to the increasing prominence of electric vehicles, compressed natural gas -powered vehicles, and eco-friendly technologies in shaping the future of mobility in Nigeria.
“This year’s awards are particularly significant as the industry undergoes a rapid shift towards sustainable mobility,” Opara said. “We are thrilled to bring together the best minds and brands in the Nigerian automotive space to celebrate the innovations driving the sector forward.”
The 2024 awards will include competitive categories such as Car of the Year, Truck of the Year, Best New Electric Vehicle, Luxury Brand of the Year, and Best Auto Tech Innovation, among others.
Opara assured stakeholders that the awards would maintain their integrity through a stringent selection process. A panel of expert judges, including NAJA’s network of seasoned automotive journalists, will assess nominees based on performance, innovation, environmental impact, and technological advancement.
NAJA Chairman, Mike Ochonma, underscored the awards’ role in showcasing trailblazers in the industry.
“The automotive world is evolving at a remarkable pace, with electric vehicles and CNG-powered innovations redefining the landscape.
“The 2024 awards will highlight the most forward-thinking products and companies leading the charge towards sustainable and advanced mobility solutions,” Ochonma stated.
The event will also feature special presentations and a display of notable nominees, promising an evening of recognition and celebration for key players in the sector.
