Napoli Defeat Milan 2-0 To Reach Supercoppa Italiana Final

Hojlund vs Ac Millan

December 19, (THEWILL) — Serie A champions Napoli advanced to the Supercoppa Italiana final following a 2-0 victory against AC Milan in their semi-final clash.

David Neres and Rasmus Hojlund scored in each half to send Antonio Conte’s side through to the showpiece on 22 December, where they will meet either Bologna or Inter.

The opening period saw Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan make several important interventions, first spilling Matteo Politano’s corner before Eljif Elmas missed the rebound.

Scott McTominay fired wide from distance whilst Adrien Rabiot headed over at the opposite end, but Napoli broke through six minutes before half-time when Maignan could only touch Hojlund’s cross onto Neres, who converted from close range.

Maignan continued his busy evening after the interval, denying Amir Rrahmani from long range before Napoli doubled their advantage.

Hojlund turned Koni De Winter in the 63rd minute before unleashing a superb strike that found the net via the right post.

The Danish forward nearly added another from a comparable position shortly afterwards but narrowly missed the target.

McTominay squandered a late opportunity to extend the margin further when he blazed over from the penalty area edge three minutes from time.

Napoli’s dominant display earned them a place in Monday’s final, with their clinical finishing proving the difference against a Milan side reliant on their captain’s goalkeeping.

The Partenopei will now prepare for their cup final appearance at the end of next week.
