SAN FRANCISCO, July 14, (THEWILL) – The Nasarawa State House of Assembly Monday voted to serve Governor Umaru Al-Makura with a notice of impeachment over allegations of financial misconduct and misappropriation of state funds.

20 legislators out of the 24 member Assembly approved the petition to commence impeachment proceedings against the governor elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Al-Makura, is the second Governor of the APC currently facing impeachment. The other Governor is Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State.

The Nasarawa House of Assembly at a session led by Speaker Ahmed Mohammed directed Assembly Clerk, Ego Maikeffi, to serve the notice on Al-Makura.

The Narasawa Assembly is dominated by the PDP by 20 – 4.
