October 10, (THEWILL) — The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address development challenges facing the Niger Delta region.

Dr Samuel Ogbuku, the Managing Director of NDDC, stated this during the Rivers State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Week in Port Harcourt.

Represented by Mrs Seledi Wakama-Thompson, the NDDC Director of Corporate Affairs, Ogbuku, who noted developmental issues confronting the Niger Delta cannot be tackled in isolation, emphasised that stakeholder engagement remains central to achieving lasting progress in the region.

He listed some of the key challenges affecting the Niger Delta as environmental degradation, poor infrastructure, high unemployment, and limited access to quality healthcare and education.

According to him, the NDDC’s achievements across the region have been the result of strong partnerships with communities, government agencies, and private sector organisations.

“The imprints the NDDC has made across the Niger Delta are not singular efforts — they depend heavily on the support and input of stakeholders”, he stated.

Ogbuku assured that the Commission will continue to work closely with professional bodies such as the NIPR, community leaders, and civil society organisations to design and implement programmes that will positively impact the lives of people in the region.

The event, themed “Refocusing Stakeholder Engagement and Public Trust in a Challenging Economy”, emphasised the need for collaboration and transparency in addressing the socio-economic challenges confronting the Niger Delta.

Ogbuku urged stakeholders to support the Commission’s renewed efforts at fostering inclusive development, noting that sustainable growth can only be achieved through collective responsibility.
