The France international is currently recovering from ankle surgery which is expected to keep him sidelined until the end of the year.

Giroud was injured during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw at Everton in August and was ruled out for up to four months.

He was a key member of the Arsenal team which finished fourth in the league last season, starting 36 of Arsenal’s 38 league matches and scoring 16 goals.

Wenger added: “We want stability and to keep the core of our team together. Giroud is an important player here.”
