Authorities in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja Monday detained a Nigerian journalist, Ahmed Salkida, one of the persons the military declared wanted over alleged link with terrorist group Boko Haram.

Salkida, who has reported extensively on the Boko Haram, was detained by officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, following his arrival from the UAE, where he presently resides.

The military had previously detained, questioned and released two other persons (Ahmed Bolori and Aisha Wakil) that have been known in government circles to have access to leaders of the group responsible for over 20, 000 violent deaths.

The journalist according to security sources was first to obtain and release the last Boko Haram video showing some of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls.

THEWILL gathered that the DSS was aware of the journalist’s return on board the Emirate flight from Dubai having received an advance copy of the flight’s manifest.

“They arrested him immediately he deboarded the aircraft and took him to a holding room at the airport first,” one airport source said.

The journalist denies being a member of the group saying he was declared wanted for carrying out his professional duties.
