May 02, (THEWILL) – A frontline Presidential Aspirant on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Peter Obi, has said that Nigeria requires wealth creators as leaders, and not those who will consume the present resources to further impoverish the masses.
Obi, who is a former Governor of Anambra State, stated this in Uyo on Monday, during Consultative Meeting with National delegates and officials of the Akwa Ibom State chapter of PDP, noting that the era of sharing in Nigeria politics is over as the present administration winds down gradually.
He explained that what Nigeria was sharing as a nation was over and the nation needed another group of leaders to produce resources that would take care of the next generation.
He listed key areas to tackle in the economy if voted in to include: education, security, power generation and manufacturing, to reposition the nation for greater achievements.
“My mission is to change Nigeria from a consuming to producing nation and from wealth sharing to wealth creation.
“The cake we are sharing now has finished. What we now have to do is bake more cakes. There is no more cake to share, and the new cakes we are going to bake is not for sharing.
“We would have a new system where the teeming unemployed youths are given a future. They are going to be driving the process. So, there will be no need to share. Consuming is finished, we are now talking about production.
“The new Nigeria would be creating and producing, not the Nigeria where people are sharing money”, he stressed.
He mentioned inability to control the economy and insecurity as factors that contribute to a failed state, adding that the time to rescue Nigeria was now.
He urged delegates from the state to vote with the picture of their children in mind, not the personality of any candidate or ethnic consideration in the forthcoming presidential primaries.
