September 29, (THEWILL) — Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured Nigerians in the Diaspora that the administration of President Bola Tinubu will deepen their involvement in national development through robust policy engagement.
Speaking at an interactive session with the Nigerian community in the United States on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, Shettima said the Tinubu-led government is committed to reforms aimed at placing Nigeria “in its rightful place among the comity of nations”.
He urged Nigerians abroad to remain hopeful and continue to believe in their country, stressing that the Renewed Hope Agenda is already yielding results in critical sectors of the economy. “Nigeria is on the right path with the reforms being undertaken by President Tinubu”, the Vice President said.
Shettima commended the resilience of Nigerians overseas, acknowledging their potential to contribute significantly to the transformation drive at home.
“Be proud of your heritage; the positive developmental indices we are seeing are products of deliberate and well-thought-out policies”, he added.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, introduced some Nigerians making notable strides abroad. She noted that the administration is prioritising diaspora engagement as a central part of its agenda.
Members of the diaspora community at the event expressed readiness to invest in sectors such as mining, health, artificial intelligence, fintech, the creative industry, and agriculture. They also lauded ongoing government efforts to improve the ease of doing business.
