BEVERLY HILLS, February 10, (THEWILL) –The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba, Tuesday ordered the redeployment of 33 Commissioners of Police to various commands and formations, with immediate effect.
The directive, which the force headquarters said is “In line with the determination and drive to enhance the administrative and operational effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force”, is coming with just about six weeks to the rescheduled Presidential elections.
“The postings are in line with efforts to reposition the Force, filling vacancies created and in view of Officers proceeding on course at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, Jos as well as posting of returning Senior Officers from NIPSS,” Police Force spokesman, Emmanuel Ojukwu, said in a statement in Abuja.
Nigeria’s electoral commission, INEC, has set March 28, 2015 for the Presidential and National Assembly elections, while the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections have been slated for April 11, 2015.
