SAN FRANCISCO, February 25, (THEWILL) – The Gombe State correspondent of Lagos based Independent Newspaper, Mr. Mike Ogbu, 48, died on Tuesday morning, according to the Gombe State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), which said it received the news with shock.
The NUJ said wife of the deceased, Mrs. Ngozika Ogbu, confirmed the death of the journalist, saying he died in his home state, Enugu after a protracted ailment.
He is survived by a wife and five children.
A statement signed by the Chairman of the Gombe state NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel, Mr. Timothy Choji said a condolence register has been opened at the chapel’s Secretariat in Gombe.
