October 17, (THEWILL) — The Nigerian military has reiterated its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity and ensuring internal security across the country.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, made this known while commending officers and men of the Armed Forces for their courage and dedication in tackling evolving security challenges.
Kangye noted that the sustained efforts of the military have continued to yield positive results across various operational theatres nationwide.
“Our recent operational successes, whether in counter-terrorism, anti-banditry, maritime security, or joint internal operations, are not just victories on the battlefield, but demonstrations of our firm resolve to secure every inch of our nation,” he said.
He attributed the achievements to coordinated strategies, intelligence-driven operations, and the cooperation of patriotic Nigerians, while also acknowledging the sacrifices of personnel who have paid the ultimate price or continue to serve with honour.
“The continued dedication, discipline, and professionalism of our troops have been instrumental in maintaining momentum across all operational theatres,” Kangye added.
He explained that the military’s recent successes reflect effective strategic planning and the bravery of personnel on land, at sea, and in the air.
According to him, ongoing counterterrorism operations, peacekeeping engagements, and joint exercises with international partners underscore Nigeria’s commitment to national security, regional stability, and global cooperation.
Giving updates on recent operations, Kangye said troops have recovered large quantities of assorted arms and ammunition, including automatic weapons, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, machine guns, locally fabricated firearms, and materials for improvised explosive devices, as well as caches of live cartridges and ammunition.
He reaffirmed that the Armed Forces remain focused, vigilant, and mission-ready to ensure lasting peace and stability across all regions of the country.
