March 11, (THEWILL) – The North Central Zonal Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Priscilla Gondo-Aluor, has charged staff of the agency to remain politically neutral in the discharge of their duties.
Speaking during a working visit to the Benue State Directorate of the agency in Makurdi on Tuesday, Gondo-Aluor emphasized the importance of impartiality, urging staff not to take sides with political parties but to focus on supporting government policies and programmes.
She underscored that their primary responsibility is to communicate government initiatives to the public, ensuring that citizens are well informed.
“Local government postings are crucial to the success of the agency’s policies and programmes. Staff should be deployed to areas where they can be most effective and contribute meaningfully to both the agency and the communities they serve,” she stated.
Gondo-Aluor further urged staff to take pride in their duties and work with passion, noting that commitment and dedication are essential for making a meaningful impact.
“You must take ownership of the agency’s mandate by understanding its policies and programmes, regardless of your department, so you can execute your responsibilities diligently,” she said.
She commended the Director-General of the agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, for his efforts in repositioning the NOA, describing his leadership as a call for staff to step up and fulfill their responsibilities effectively.
Earlier, the Acting State Director of the agency, Mr. Mark Dewua, congratulated Gondo-Aluor on her appointment as the pioneer zonal director for North Central, stating that her elevation was a testament to her hard work, capacity, and extensive experience.
Dewua revealed that the state directorate currently has 106 staff spread across the state office and the 23 local government areas, lamenting that the number is insufficient given the scope of their responsibilities.
Despite the manpower shortage, he noted that through cooperation and teamwork, staff members have continued to deliver on the agency’s mandate and the transformation agenda of the Director-General.
He also lauded the Director-General for his efforts in restructuring the agency and positioning it as a key driver of national development and value reorientation.
