May 24, (THEWILL) – The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has received a significant boost with a new live-streaming partnership expected to generate over $5 million annually.
The league’s Interim Management Committee, along with financial partners GTI and Propel Sports Africa, unveiled the groundbreaking collaboration that will bring NPFL matches to screens worldwide starting in the upcoming season.
Basil Kabbani of Propel Sports expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the use of advanced AI technology to enhance the league’s coverage. “Pixellot, the world-leading provider of AI-automated sports video and data solutions, and ITV Africa are proud to announce a partnership with NPFL, GTI, and Propel Sports Africa, revolutionising sports coverage in the country by enabling comprehensive coverage of the league’s matches in a groundbreaking hybrid broadcast format combining AI with human operators,” he said.
Chairman of the Interim Management Committee, Gbenga Elegbeleye, spoke with excitement about the future of Nigerian football and the benefits of the live-streaming initiative. “We are looking at a situation where the least paid player will earn N1 million. This way, we will attract foreign players to the league and with Propel Sports, over 100 countries will be able to watch the Nigerian league”, Elegbeleye stated.
He also praised the partnership with GTI, emphasising their commitment to the league’s growth and financial stability.
