August 01, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Premier League (NPL) has taken a giant stride towards revolutionising the live viewing experience of football matches with the introduction of AI Cameras for the upcoming season.
In a collaborative effort between NPL, Propel Sports Africa, and GTI, the AI Cameras were unveiled, promising to live-stream at least eight NPL games per week, totalling over 300 games throughout the season. The cameras’ arrival marks a significant technological advancement in Nigerian football, aiming to enhance accessibility and entertainment for fans nationwide.
At the forefront of this milestone is Nigeria’s renowned journalist and broadcaster, Mitchell Obi, who played a pivotal role in the unveiling ceremony. He was full of optimism for the successful use of these cutting-edge cameras to bring the joy of soccer to the nation. Beyond the immersive viewing experience, this initiative holds the promise of generating a positive socio-economic impact.
Propel Sports Africa plans to train forty Nigerians in handling the state-of-the-art AI Cameras, opening up employment opportunities and empowering locals to participate in plans to broadcast matches effectively. Over the next two weeks, the selected trainees will undergo intensive training to familiarise themselves with the advanced technology of the AI Cameras.
Once fully equipped, these cameras will be deployed and installed in major stadiums across the nation. The comprehensive list includes stadiums such as the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina with a capacity of 35,000, the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo with a capacity of 30,000, and more. Football enthusiasts will witness this groundbreaking transformation in the live viewing experience of the NPL when the next football campaign kicks off.
