BEVERLY HILLS, CA, October 18, (THEWILL) –The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents Chapel has elected its new executive committee.
Comrade Michael Ikeogwu of Delta State Government funded The Pointer newspaper was re-elected as Chairman of the union with 19 votes to beat Comrade Omon-Julius Onabu of ThisDay Newspaper, who got 12 votes.
Other members of the union returned unopposed were Joe Ogbodu of the Compass Newspaper, (Vice Chairman), Akpokona Omafuaire of the Vanguard Newspaper, (Secretary) as well as Odeya Ogbetuo of the Delta Voice (Auditor).
The Chapel’s election was conducted by three-man Electoral Committee headed by Voke Uvwie and was supervised by officials of the Delta State Council of the union led by its Vice Chairman, Comrade Felix Igbekoyi as well as the Financial Secretary of the union, Comrade Celestine Afokoba.
Speaking after the election, Comrade Ikeogwu dedicated his victory to God.
Ikeogwu also expressed gratitude to members of the chapel for their support and therefore said the victory was for all.
