SAN FRANCISCO, January 10, (THEWILL) – Former President Olusegun Obasanjo Saturday made a surprise appearance at a wedding ceremony hosted by President Goodluck Jonathan for his niece and her partner.
Obasanjo, who has openly opposed the re-election bid of President Jonathan, has repeatedly accused the president of poor leadership and mismanaging the nation’s resources. A few days back at the launch of his re-election campaign in Lagos, President Jonathan took a swipe back at the former president.
Obasanjo’s arrival at the National Christian Centre, Abuja venue of the wedding alongside Senator Andy Uba and some aides before the church ceremony commenced, was greeted with a loud applause by attendees.
A few minutes later, President Jonathan arrived accompanied by his wife, Patience, and the bride. He later exchanged pleasantries with Obasanjo and other guests and specifically recognized the former president’s presence at the ceremony when in his vote of thanks said, “Let me appreciate our father, President Olusegun Obasanjo, for being here with us today.”
At the end of the ceremony, the former president joined the president’s family for photographs.
