October 13, (THEWILL) — Renowned Christian leader and octogenarian evangelist, Rev. (Dr.) Uma Ukpai, has reportedly passed away at the age of 80.
Although there is no official statement confirming his death, Prophet Joel Ogebe posted a cryptic message on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “A giant has gone to be with the Lord. My father, my father, the chariot of Israel. Heaven rejoices. Uyo.”
Born on January 7, 1945, Rev. Ukpai was an international evangelist and preacher, and one of the founding fathers of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).
He was also the founder and president of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, a non-denominational gospel ministry based in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, known for its crusades and humanitarian work across Nigeria and beyond.
Described as a beacon of light and a source of inspiration to many, Rev. Ukpai devoted his life to preaching the gospel and mentoring leaders within the Christian faith.
