July 02, (THEWILL) — Anambra State residents living in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, have condemned the recent killing of 13 Ebonyi indigenes in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, describing the incident as barbaric and inhumane.
Their position was contained in a joint statement issued on Wednesday in Abakaliki and signed by Lady Rose Ezeadikwa, Special Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on Urban Women Mobilisation; Chief Okoye Augustine, President of the Ebonyi State Landlords Association; and five other community leaders.
The group expressed confidence in the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, urging him to launch a thorough investigation into the killings and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
The statement read: “We condemn in totality such inhuman act. Life is sacred, and no one has the right to take it.”
“We have every hope that the Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, will carry out a thorough investigation and bring to book the perpetrators of this dastardly act.”
They also offered condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the peaceful repose of their souls.
“We condole with the families involved and pray for the peaceful repose of their souls,” the statement added.
