April 21, (THEWILL) – The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe Corps, has rescued several victims who were lured from Ghana with promises of employment but were later held captive in a building within the state.
The Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Moruf Yusuf, confirmed the development in a statement issued over the weekend in Abeokuta.
According to Yusuf, operatives of the corps acted on credible intelligence that several victims were being held in a three-bedroom apartment located in the Oke-Sioni area, opposite Comfort Zone Hotel, in Mowe, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.
He explained that one of the victims, identified as Anita, was lured into Nigeria with the promise of a job but was later detained alongside others as the promised employment never materialised.
The spokesman said ten individuals, comprising three females and seven males, were rescued and taken into custody, including a Nigerian man who served as the building’s security guard.
He added that the victims had been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Redeemed Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The statement partly read, “On April 19, 2025, operatives of the Corps obtained critical intelligence regarding the victims’ location. The Owode-Egba Zonal Command, led by Assistant Commander of Corps (ACC) Rasaki Jimoh, was immediately mobilized to respond to the situation.
“On April 20, 2025, at about 10:00 a.m., a joint operation involving the So-Safe Corps and the Nigeria Police Force, Redeemed Division, successfully stormed the premises and rescued the victims. The team also apprehended individuals believed to be involved in the criminal act.”
Those rescued and apprehended were listed as Frank Adjei, 45; Emmanuel Agyapong, 50; Adam Zakari, 33; Benjamin Etuah, 20; Asamoah Kwaku, 53; Yusuf Kasim, 27; Ogunle Damola, 32; Gift Dzakpasu, 21; Susana Ampons, 35; and Anita Otaibu.
