BEVERLY HILLS, January 28, (THEWILL) – As a way of facilitating the diversion of the nation’s economy from sole dependence on crude oil sales, governors of the 36 states have resolved to improve their collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals to ensure the exploration of other natural resources in their various states.
This was as they used the peer review mechanism to appraise the performance of each state’s government, with a view to finding better ways of increasing their revenues and performance. This took place last night at a meeting the state chief executives held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in continuation of their Peer Review Programme.
In a communiqué read to journalists by the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Zamfara State, Abdul’aziz Yari, the governors welcomed their new colleague, the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello who joined the meeting after his swearing in.
The meeting started at about 9pm, with 13 governors and three Deputy Governors, including the newly inaugurated governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.
Others in attendance include the Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, his Imo State counterpart, Rochas Okorocha. Also at the meeting were Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi State; Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole and the Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi.
