SAN FRANCISCO, July 30, (THEWILL) – Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha’s nominee for Deputy Governor, Callistus Ekenze, the Head of the State’s civil service, has been approved by the House of Assembly.

The majority leader of the House, Lugard Osuji, who moved the motion for Deputy Governor Eze Madumere’s impeachment, despite a court ruling blocking his removal, conveyed the Assembly’s approval to journalists late Monday.

“The House has received a nomination letter from the governor for the replacement of the impeached deputy governor.

“The head of service, Callistus Ekenze, was nominated by the governor.

“His nomination has been cleared by the House unanimously. We are only waiting for his swearing-in ceremony,” he said.

THEWILL had reported earlier Monday how the Assembly impeached Madumere despite an order of the State High Court blocking it.

Madumere, who has been locked in a succession battle with Governor Rochas Okorocha, was impeached Monday by 19 out of the 27 member-Assembly.
