SAN FRANCISCO, October 28, (THEWILL) – Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, has met with President Muhammadu Buhari to alert him of the imminent danger in the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognise Jimoh Ibrahim as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming election in the state.
Mimiko arrived at the villa around 11 am on Friday morning and he went straight into the President’s office.
His visit comes less than 24 hours after INEC announced Ibrahim as the PDP candidate at the expense of Eyitayo Jegede, who is also laying claim to the PDP ticket in the state through the PDP faction led by Ahmed Makarfi.
The announcement has thrown the state into chaos, and Mimiko’s visit to the president was to intimate him on the likely effects of the decision.
He told State House correspondents that he was not only surprised but shocked about the development.
He added that he knew the people of the state very well, saying they would fight the injustice meted to them declaring that the magnitude of violence witnessed in the state could have been more if not for his timely intervention.
