SAN FRANCISCO, July 16, (THEWILL) – In furtherance of its open government policy, the Rivers State Government said Wednesday that it has commenced a tour of all the wards in the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.

The tour, according to a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Ibim Seminitari, commenced Wednesday with wards in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Speaking during the tour, the state governor, Chubuike Rotimi Amaechi, said: “As we enter the last lap of our administration, it is imperative that we go round to see what governance gaps remain in our quest to guarantee the life of present and future generations.”

He added: ” We are determined to finish strong and so we must cross the T’s and dot the I’s as we go.”

The tour of the wards, according to the statement, is expected to last for two months.

“This is a non partisan, non political tour,” Amaechi said further, adding “we would want all parties, persons and interests to please join us in this critical interaction as we make our final push to complete our mandate and deliver on our promises to Rivers people.”
