March 20, (THEWILL) – Even before he made up his mind to contest for the Senatorial position, the good people of Imo North district (Okigwe zone), had desired to have Hon. Engr. Patrick Ndubueze, as their representative in the Red chambers of the National Assembly. They already knew by edge, by age, by legislative experience, he is qualified for the outing!
As a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ndubueze represented Okigwe, Onuimo and Isiala Mbano Federal Constituency refreshingly and the people were proud of him because the lawmaker performed excellently well. Patrick is a gentleman to the core. A man of integrity, A child of God and a man of the people; very intelligent and down to earth.
Engr. Patrick Ndubueze hails from Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State. His emergence as the Senator to represent Okigwe zone, during the February 25th presidential and national assembly elections, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was greeted with jubilations from the people of Okigwe, Onuimo, Isiala Mbano, Ehime Mbano, Obowo and Ihitte Uboma council areas that made-up the zone. Ndi Okigwe are proud of their son in whom they are well-pleased!
The Imo Senatorial district is splitted into two — Okigwe North and Okigwe South Federal constituencies — with three (3) council areas each. Among these units, Obowo, Ihitte-Uboma and Ehime Mbano LGs, which are under Okigwe South, had produced the following persons as Senators: The late Sen. Emeka Echeruo (From Ehime Mbano), Sen Sylvester Anyanwu (Obowo), Sen. Mathew Nwagwu (Obowo), Sen. Athan Achonu Ehime Mbano), Sen. Benjamin Uwajumogu (Ihitte Uboma) and the present lawmaker whose tenure will elapse in June 2023, Senator Frank Ibezim, who is also a native of Ehime Mbano.
The Okigwe North comprises of Okigwe, Onuimo and Isiala Mbano. No Senator from this northern side of the zone had ever been elected to represent Okigwe Senatorial district in the Senate except Sen Ifeanyi Araraume, from Isiala Mbano, who held sway from 1999 to 2007 under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. It is clear that for the past Seventeen (17) years, Imo North had produced only one Senator, in the person of Chief Ifeanyi Araraume, while the South constituency had Seven (7) senators.
It was Senator Ifeanyi Araraume from Isiala Mbano, who wrestled out power from the Late Sen Echeruo. Araraume vied for the position during the 1999 election and won. Therefore, the emergence of Engineer Patrick Ndubueze is not by accident, Let me tell you, this is the Lord’s doing!
It is now believed that Okigwe zone stakeholders, irrespective of their political party affiliations, will rally around Hon. Ndubueze as their Senator. Ndi Imo North should avoid selfish interests this time and chart a new cause to push the zone to greater heights by attracting constant electricity supply, good road network, healthcare system, quality education, infrastructural development, pipe borne water, amenities, jobs creation and others.
People of Okigwe zone are peace-loving, they believe in unity, sincerity of purpose and peaceful coexistence among one another for which the district had remained a formidable force. Not only that, They are hardworking and business-oriented.
Hon. Ndubueze should bear in mind the zone is wonderfully lagging, and is visibly crying out for transformation. Development is needed in the six (6) Local Government Areas. Some communities across the zone are cut-off and thus, need to be given a facelift. Those who represented the political unit in the past years really underperformed.
All eyes are now on Hon Ndubueze towards ensuring that he does what his predecessors could not do right. He should know that he has no reason to fail because he is not only a jinx breaker but a pacesetter. In fact, he needs to see himself as a Biblical Joshua God has brought to deliver his people from the shackles of backwardness. Ndubueze is capable! We have no doubt that he would deliver on the gains of democracy for which he was elected. Undoubtedly, the Senator-elect would give Okigwe zone a voice in the Senate.
Transformation of Okigwe, Onuimo, Isiala Mbano, Ehime Mbano, Obowo and Ihitte Uboma council areas of the State should be on the mind of the incoming Federal legislator. With God by his side, outstanding performance and the full support of his constituents, Hon. Engr. Patrick Ndubueze will do well as the Senator for Okigwe and he shall do well as expected of him.
Long live Okigwe Zone!
Long Live Imo State!
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
