February 11, (THEWILL) – The Opposition Coalition has alleged an underground plot to halt the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) through a court injunction.
THEWILL reports that the party’s governors and its Board of Trustees (BoT) have postponed the NEC meeting, originally scheduled for February, to March 13, 2025.
Speaking at a news conference held at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, Ikenga Ugochinyere, the spokesperson for the coalition and representative of Ideato Federal Constituency in Imo State, accused certain PDP members of plotting to disrupt the party and hinder its ability to function effectively as an opposition.
He urged members of the BoT to remain resolute in defending the party against internal saboteurs.
On the Supreme Court judgement concerning the Rivers State House of Assembly, Ugochinyere dismissed claims that Governor Siminalayi Fubara had lost any case. He clarified that Fubara merely withdrew his appeal over the 2024 budget, which had already been executed, leading to the case being struck out.
Ugochinyere said that contrary to rumours, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Oko Jumbo, remains in control of the legislature.
