February 01, (THEWILL) — Galatasaray strengthened their position at the summit of the Turkish Super Lig with a comprehensive victory over Kayserispor at Rams Park on Saturday evening.
Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen was on hand to help the Istanbul outfit record a four-goal triumph against opponents languishing near the foot of the table.
The match opened in the hosts’ favour when defender Aaron Opoku diverted the ball into his own net after just seven minutes.
Osimhen then stepped up to convert from the penalty spot in the 26th minute, maintaining his flawless record in such situations since joining the league leaders.
Gabriel Sara extended the advantage on the hour mark, finishing a move involving Osimhen to put Galatasaray three goals ahead.
The visitors offered little in response and spent much of the second period absorbing sustained pressure from the title contenders.
A second penalty arrived deep into stoppage time, which Mauro Icardi dispatched to complete the rout in the 90th minute plus four. Kayserispor departed without registering a meaningful attempt on goal.
The result reinforced Galatasaray’s credentials in this season’s championship race whilst underlining the challenges facing their opponents, who remain in a precarious league position.
The home side continue to set the pace in the 2025/2026 campaign.
