BEVERLY HILLS, CA, November 19, (THEWILL) – Embattled National Secretary of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has dragged the party to court over his recent suspension.
Oyinlola was suspended by the PDP on November 11, alongside the Chairman of the new PDP, Abubakar Baraje; his deputy, Sam Jaja; and another member of the party from Jigawa State.
The suspension was apparently to stop Oyinlola, who had threatened to resume office after a Court of Appeal judgement re-instated him from doing so.
A suit was therefore filed on his behalf by his counsel, Professor Awa Kalu, SAN, at a federal high court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday to challenge his suspension.
Oyinlola, who asked the court to set aside his suspension, argued that due process of the law was not followed before he was suspended from the ruling party.
Maintaining that his suspension was against the constitution of the party, asking the court to reverse it, he said there are procedures  for suspending a member and that the procedures were not followed in his case.
