SAN FRANCISCO, August 05, (THEWILL) – Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, a former Governor of Osun State Tuesday formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after he unsuccessfully got the ruling party to reinstate him as its National Secretary.
At a mega rally inside the Osogbo City Stadium for incumbent Governor Rauf Aregbesola, the APC’s candidate in the Osun Governorship election slated for Saturday, August 9, 2014, Oyinlola was formally inducted into the party by National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
In his address to supporters, Oyinlola accused President Goodluck Jonathan of marginalizing the South West in the allotment of key political offices and urged voters to reject the PDP and its candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore in Saturday’s poll.
The rally was attended by all Governors of APC controlled states, national and state party leaders, legislators as well as other top party bigwigs and supporters.
Saturday’s election is expected to be closely watched by members of both the PDP and APC as well as observers as a defeat for the APC will further strengthen the PDP’s momentum as it plots to wrestle the entire South West from the APC, whose candidate, Governor Kayode Fayemi was soundly defeated by Prince Ayo Fayose of the PDP in the Ekiti Governorship election, a few weeks ago.
